Staffing Agency Q&A: We Answer What You Want to Know

When people imagine a staffing agency (both employees and employers) they often have the wrong idea about what we do, or don’t fully understand how we can help them find a job more quickly and more efficiently. We understand it can be intimidating and a bit nerve-wracking to turn your career search, or your search for a new employee in your company, over to total strangers. That’s why we wanted to address some common questions and concerns, allowing you to feel more at ease when you dial our number. We want you to feel confident in your hiring process, and our ultimate goal is to make it as easy as possible for all involved.

How is a staffing agency more effective than just applying for local jobs on my own?

This is a great question. It’s natural to wonder why having a third party handle your resume, rather than just turning them in yourself, is a better option. Cut out the middle man, right? Unfortunately, that mindset could be costing you valuable opportunities. PHR Staffing Solutions has connections with local companies that often don’t post their openings in a public environment, but rather, come straight to us to fill the gap in their staff. This means that applicants outside of our agency don’t ever see the opening on local job boards, online job searches, etc. When your resume is on file with us, we are able to put your name in the running for these openings, increasing your chances of finding a job faster.

How can I trust you to find the best employee for my company if you don’t know me, or my business, very well?

Again, this is a valid concern, and one we’re happy to answer. We know your business is your “baby,” and we want to make sure it’s taken care of in the best way possible, from the ground up. Your employees are a vital part of that, so filling openings in your staff is a huge responsibility, and one we don’t take lightly. When you come to PHR, we will get a detailed description of your business, what type of opening you are hiring for, all required skills and qualifications for the job, etc. We develop an in-depth profile of the type of employee you need, and then use that profile as a gauge against current applicants in our system. We essentially play matchmaker between potential employees and you, but in the end, you have the final say. While we handle the initial interviews, all background checks and testing, etc., you or your HR staff will take care of making the final decision about an individual applicant.

If I make the wrong decision, am I “stuck” with the employee I chose?

No. Our goal is to find employees that meet the needs of your business, and if an applicant isn’t filling that space properly, you can choose to let them go, and we’ll open the search back up again for the perfect fit. That’s the beauty of a staffing agency. Since we keep applicants on our payroll for a period of time, you get to “test” them out risk-free. If you like what you see, you can choose to move forward and make a full hire, but if not, you can let us know and we’ll take care of the rest.

I don’t have a lot of background skills or educational qualifications. Can you still find a job for me?

Absolutely! Many of our positions offer on-the-job training or don’t require a specific set of skills or extensive educational background. Physical strength, ability to learn new skills on the job, good work ethic, and being a responsible employee are some of the more common requirements we see and hear from local employers. By trusting your job search to PHR, you know we are working behind the scenes to match you with jobs that will give you the best chance to launch your career no matter your skill set.

Who is hiring me…you or the company I’m working for?

Another great question, and one that can be confusing when you opt to use a staffing service like PHR. In our agency, you are “hired” through PHR, so your initial round of paperwork and paychecks will be taken care of through us. If the employer you are placed with chooses to keep you long-term, then we will assist in moving forward with the transition, during which all your information and paperwork will be turned over and you’ll be able to take care of any contracts, benefits paperwork, agreements, etc. required by your new employer. For temp employees, PHR is your primary employer in most cases, and paperwork, paychecks, etc. are handled by us.

We hope this clears up some of the information about staffing services for you! We look forward to helping you with your staffing needs. Give us a call or visit our jobs page to find out about current openings and apply online!
